The Case for True Home Ownership in America
End Property Tax Now makes the case that property tax turns homeowners into permanent tenants, taxes unrealized gains, and hides behind a system too complex to audit. More importantly, he lays out the citizen-led path politicians cannot stop, slow-walk, or quietly kill in committee.

Property ownership is a cornerstone of American freedom, protected by the Constitution. Property taxes undermine this right by forcing homeowners to pay the government indefinitely for something they “own,” effectively turning them into renters. Eliminating property taxes restores true private property ownership, which is essential for personal liberty and self-reliance.
Property taxes rank as the #1 hated tax in America. This is largely because the tax is calculated on unrealized gains. If you paid $100,000 for your property and it is now worth $1 million, you are being taxed on $900,000 that you have never deposited into your account. Local governments can increase your taxes without your permission. This has to stop.
Property taxes place a heavy burden on middle-class families and retirees, making it harder for them to build wealth and pass it on to future generations. Removing these taxes allows homeowners to fully own their property, invest in their futures, and contribute to a free-market economy without government interference.
Property taxes often fund bloated government programs and bureaucracies with little accountability to taxpayers. By ending these taxes, governments would be forced to operate more efficiently, prioritize essential services, and reduce wasteful spending. This supports smaller, more responsible government that respects taxpayers' money.
